Did the High Ridge Starbucks purposefully change their design to this cold, open space, or were they just preparing for a square dance tonight? I don't know, because I haven't been there in a while. I'm hoping it's just temporary. You know, for the rave they're hosting tonight, so they had to move all the chairs out. Seriously what is going on with that place? The space seems very unwelcoming.
My husband reported that the staff was also very "enh." He waited a while for my pumpkin spice latte, then said, "Is there a pumpkin spice latte coming?" And the barista said, "Oh, I forgot it," in a very "whatever" tone. Not, "Oh, sorry 'bout that." I mean, at least pretend like you care.
Contrast that with the very friendly girls behind the counter at Beldotti's where we stopped after for some banana bread. That's what we had for our late lunch today, plus an AWESOME black and white cookie!
And then we had Layla's for dinner. It was a true day of laziness for the Stamford Talk household.

It the McDonalds of Coffee!
It does look tres sad. One of our *B did get a fab makeover yet sev did close :(. At least you could fill your day with non-nat chains like i did: Einsteins, Kroger, CVS....
I think Dunkin' Donuts and Donuts Delight now have Pumpkin Spice lattes.
I'm hoping they're not done yet, they were closed most of last week renovating and just reopened on Saturday. Weekend service I've found is touch and go, but weekday service is much better. I also think they make better quality drinks than some of the other S'bucks in town. Some of the other S'bucks consistantly serve drinks that are made with old ingredients, use wrong ratio of milk/coffee, etc.
Old ingredients! Do tell which one you're talking about... nothing is worse than sub-par coffee, especially one you pay 2 or 3 or 4 bucks for!
I hate to sound like the coffee-Nazi that I am, but really. Ordering an espresso drink at Starbux is a total joke.
Just skip it and order a regular coffee.

If it makes you feel any better, coffee emporiums around the city are going to hell. I got a metal valve in my coffee at the Hope Street Dunkin Donuts last week. I got a $20 gift card for my "inconvenience".
I avoid the Starbucks in High Ridge. Been there a couple times and got the sense that nobody knows what they are doing. I tend to be in Norwalk often and hit the one by Stew's and the one at the end of Route 7. Something I've noticed in those Starbucks lately - seems like every week there are new faces. Wonder if they are having a lot of turnover? Or maybe they are getting rid of their experienced staff? The employee churn can't be helping them.
Boy it would have been nice if the one on Newfield stayed open - there weren't so bad. Strange how much money Starbucks can dump into building out a store and just close it so fast.
