Boom, Kapow, Fireworks: Cricket!!!

Not real fireworks- they were in my head when I just confirmed the time and location of the cricket tourney this weekend! An anonymous reader kindly posted the flier in comments, but here's the essential info: Lione Park on Stillwater Ave, 8am-5pm, this Sat-Sun Aug 16-17.

Now I can finally live out my dream of lounging in the grass watching cricket and maybe picnicking if there's some shade. The weather looks great- 80 and sunny on Sat., and 84 and mostly sunny on Sunday. I'm going to have to read up on cricket because I have no idea what the sport is about. I know the ball gets hit with a paddle.

Where on earth is Lione Park?

Lione Park is near the Hospital and Golf Course.

This might be a good excuse for stopping by Pellicci's. We could call it "Stamford Talk's Pizza in the Park." ;-)

Glad you final received your details on this years cricket tournament event.

There are many teams in the Stamford area, St. John's church has a team that play at Lione Park in the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association, as does Stamford Cricket Club who play in the American Cricket League.

UBS have a team now based in New Haven (as there is only one ground in Stamford).

The Mad Dogs Cricket Club now based in Greenwich apparently travel to play at Harvard this weekend and have a strong social scene that welcome anyone to their games.

Hope you get to enjoy the games which this weekend are in a very shortened format but for a good cause.

OK, second try:

Awesome! After reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I can't wait to see the fast and furious cricket action.

I've wanted to check out Pellicci's for a while, so that would work!
