Gettin' Ready for the Storm

I made it to the grocery at 8:30 am, just before the rush. I didn't actually leave the store until like, 9:30, because I ran into fellow blogger Always Home and Uncool and talked his ear off, plus, I was sort of enjoying people-watching. Best sighting: slim guy with long white hair, in jeans, boots, a black leather jacket... and a Santa hat. I leaned over to him in the cheese aisle, and I think I said, "Your outfit is absolutely adorable." I know that's a totally stupid thing to say to a biker dude, but I didn't sleep a lot last night, so I'm a little giddy and nonsensical.

I forgot to get Wheat Thins, so I ran back into the store at 9:30, but lines were long, especially the ten items or less. People were holding it together, but I could tell they were getting a little tense, so I hightailed it out of there. We'll either do without cheese and crackers tonight, or the husband can buy crackers on the way home from work. We've got fire wood and S'mores making materials, and that's what really matters.

I'm going to clean my hellhole house and do some online shopping, since I have only bought two gifts so far, and I have ten family members to buy for. How 'bout you? What'll you be doing?

Drive safely, everyone, and have a nice snowy Friday!

Ah, StamfordTalks, since i am mostly home bound, I will remain so today, but I am getting ready to do another post. I know my coworkers are in the building, cause the city that works, will be there all day. I just lucked out and had a massive operation that still has me out of there. By the way - the reason there is no "early release" for city workers is fairly simple...once upon a time long ago, employees were released from work because of a massive snow storm, the police who were on duty sued and won overtime pay for the day, hence city works must stay or use vacation or personal time to leave early. I get a break cause I am still out by sick leave. Also always home and uncool is also one of my favorites for good cheer in the blogging world.

I hit Stop & Shop around 11:30 last night. It wasn't crazy, but it was plenty active for that late hour.

Fortunately, they had plenty of ice cream and Double Stufs in stock, so we're good for the duration of the storm.

I braved the storm and went into the office this morning. The noontime commute home wasn't the most enjoyable one I've ever had...

I have candy-cane Joe-Joe's from Trader Joe's. Let it snow!

We ventured out! Some friends got hitched today and we went to a party to honor them. The roads weren't that bad. My husband's truck is great in the snow, though, so come hell or high water we were picking up our babysitter and making a night of it.

I hope you enjoyed your s'mores. I ran into AH&UC on the soccer fields a few times this fall - he should change his moniker to always friendly & good company.

Ugh I had to work, but only until 12 and then the Court let us fly free. Stopped at Grade A on Newfield on the way home and grabbed what I could hold and put in my pockets since there were no baskets and then waited in line for 30 minutes while my arms cramped and went numb.

Thinking about leaving the house today though before more snow comes tomorrow......Hmmmmmm Colony sounds good.....
